Lean Machine: Benchmarking Minimal Linux Installations Across Eight Distributions on Identical Hardware
Not all minimal installs are created equal. We subjected eight Linux distributions—from Arch to Gentoo to Debian Minimal—to rigorous measurement of boot times, RAM consumption, and post-install package overhead on a single reference machine. The findings will inform every IT professional choosing a lean foundation for servers or embedded deployments.
